A year has passed since I moved my art studio to Marin. Please join me to celebrate, see what I have been creating, meet my talented studio mates, and take some art home for the holidays.
As part of the uBe Art exhibition (up through June 26th), the artists were asked some interview questions related to our creative practices. Here is what I had to say about art and life. (CHECK IT OUT HERE)
I am delighted to be showing a selection of my portrait paintings in conjunction with Terry Furry's exhibition of drawings (for a new weekly planner which celebrates LGBTQ history, people, & ideas). Come out and see wonderful faces, known and unknown.
I am excited to be included in this upcoming portrait exhibition at uBe Gallery in Berkeley, CA. I hear there will be banjo music at the opening too, which suits me just fine. I hope to see you there! For more information on the exhibition, please check out the press release.
A few months back, I needed a break from my ongoing painting series and started working on a few paintings of objects that I had saved and had been previously kept by family members. The first is a pewter horse made by my father when I was child. The second a collection of duck decoy eyeballs used and collected by my grandmother. The third contains gold teeth of unknown origin found among my aunt's jewelry supplies. I really enjoyed working on these.
Lately, I have been working on editing a self published book of my cycling photos. This is both exciting and a bit overwhelming. Starting in June 2010, I carried a camera while riding my bicycle and did this, often multiple times a week, for four years. The resulting photography lived on a blog I called Picture Pedaler. I was religious about editing and posting images the same day I took them, resulting in over 3000 photographs being posted. (You may see sampling of images on the photo section of my website.) Rather than cull through the thousands I did not post, I am trusting my initial selects and editing down from there. Stay tuned for updates!
